Springtime: get out of the house and out to the theater!

April is a perfect month to leave the house and go see a show. Our reviewers are very busy this month, both with our Aisle Say and our non-Aisle Say commitments. There are tons of shows opening over the next few weeks. Stay tuned for reviews of “The Magic Flute“, “The Shadow War“, “Hamlet“, and “Silkworms“, among other shows. But here is a preview of just a few of the shows we won’t be able to review:

Shrek the Musical opens on April 22 at the Children’s Theatre Company, running through June 15.

One-man show Mercy Killers, about the United States healthcare system, opens at the Pillsbury House Theatre on April 23 (all tickets pay-what-you-want).

Opening April 25, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, presented at the Guthrie by The Acting Company.

The Workhaus Collective is also presenting an original new play called Homegrown, by Jeannine Coulombe, about the connections between poverty and artistic creation. It opens at The Playwright’s Center on April 25 – all performances pay-what-you-can.

And also opening on April 25 is Love, Loss, and What I Wore at Theatre in the Round. The play is by Nora and Delia Ephron, intended as a “chick flick for the stage”.

The final April 25 opening is Mom! A New Musical! at the Chameleon Theatre Circle in Burnsville, one of last year’s winners of the Chameleon’s Annual New Play Contest.

And last, but not least, the regional premiere of Rapture, Blister, Burn – a show about the evolution women’s roles in society – opens on April 26, produced by the 20% Theatre Company.

That’s a lot of theater in just a couple of weeks! Get on your bike (maybe put on some warm clothes first), invite your Mom for Mother’s Day, and check out one of these – or one of the many other plays opening this month.

  1. Here’s overview of the Google Nexus S that will help make a decision.

Design-wise, what I enjoy about the Nexus One may be the fit when
holding it. Its memory is 16 GB which may not be expanded using micro SD slot cards.
