Illusion Theater’s Right Wrong or Bomb! A Dating Musical explores the contemporary (read: online) dating scene. How many of us aren’t familiar with the daunting process of searching through hundreds of photos and descriptions in an attempt to find one–just one!–other human being with enough attractiveness and a tolerable amount of flaws. These co-reviewers, in fact, met through that strange and awkward process!
Adam and I have come to expect much from the productions at Illusion Theater. I’m sad to say that Right Wrong or Bomb was somewhat of a letdown, though, to be fair, this theater has set quite a high bar. This opening-night production struck these reviewers as unpolished, the characters one-dimensional, and the plot slow on occasion, the story predictable, but it was nonetheless it was a fun night at the theater.
The first scene was the slowest, with some Amy Schumer-like, hungover thirty-something women mulling their New Year’s Eve celebration. Luckily, the show improves from there. In fact, one late scene, set as a comedy of misrepresentation, was positively Frasier-esque, much to my delight! Colleen Sommerville Leeman, playing the lead role of Jill, certainly did win my heart by the end of the night’s performance, and songwriter Rosie Sauvageau’s piano performance offered a solid grounding to the show.

Adam’s Take
Perhaps it is my own odd fascination with the idea of single women searching for men with jobs and cars, and not living with their parents, but I enjoyed Right Wrong or Bomb! A Dating Musical much more than my partner.
